The debate was held at Borough Hall and hosted by the League of Women Voters (LWV). The candidates were Joe Accardi & Michael Peterson from the 2nd Ward and David Jacobs & Michael Yakubov from the 5th Ward. The format of the debate allotted each candidate three (3) minutes each for their opening and three (3) minutes each for their closing statements. Each question had a one (1) minute response with an allowance of 30 seconds for additional comments. In total there were 13 questions.

BOE Meeting (October 20, 2009)

Board members were in attendance with the exception of Nancy Kinloch, Barney Leinberger, and Jeff Parrell. The BOE was in closed session to discuss agenda item #1. The Board entered into open session.

Public Portion

Jake Magiera

  • Mr. Magiera commented on the helmets program and wanted to thank parents who have their children wear helmets.
 

With no one else from the public coming forward, the first public portion was closed.

Superintendent’s Report

The superintendent turned things over to the Business Administrator to discuss the success of the RPHS Girl’s Tennis Team.

Public Portion

Jacob Magiera

  • Mr. Magiera asked questions regarding the number of children enrolled in the school system, the status of the school’s investigator checking on students illegally enrolled, H1N1 prevention, and the BOE taxes for the 2009-2010 school year.
 

With no one else from the public coming forward, the second public portion was closed.

Planning Board & M&C Meeting (October 19, 2009)

Planning Board members were present with the exception of Mr. Costello, Mr. Velucci, and Mr. Barbieri.

The regular agenda of the Roselle Park Planning Board was not followed for the evening. A special agenda was followed for the meeting regarding the Westfield Avenue corridor. A presentation was provided for the meeting.

 

The mayor asked about the benefits of including the elements of the proposal in the Borough’s Master Plan.

 

The mayor put on the record that there was a quorum from council. Questions were opened up to the presenters from the Planning Board and council.
