<li>Dr. Phil Frese, Don Lubin,  Steve Cohen, and <span id="main" style="visibility: visible;"><span id="search" style="visibility: visible;">John Westervelt</span></span> gave a presentation from Domus Corporation in connection with Catholic Charities to provide senior housing at the present location of the DPW.</li>

<li>Mr. Magiera spoke on senior housing, the cracks on the crosswalks, the electrical work on the ADA doors in Borough Hall and newspaper articles.</li>

<li>Ms. Shoe-Ezell spoke on clarifying the wording for Ordinance 2290. After information she provided, it was decided to postpone a vote on the ordinance until the next meeting.</li>

<li>Mr. Marczewski spoke on senior housing, the DPW, bulk waste pick-up and AvalonBay.</li>

<li>Mr. Qersdyn spoke on the charge for notary services and the enforcement of a proposed curfew ordinance.</li>

<p><strong>Borough Attorney</strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong> </strong></span></p>
<ul>
<li>The Borough Attorney had two (2) matters for closed session.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Borough Clerk</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The Borough Clerk spoke on the upcoming St. Patrick&#8217;s Day Parade for Union and the &#8220;Create-Your-Easter-Egg&#8221; contest for the Borough. She had one (1) matter for closed session.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Fire Department</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The fire department spoke on the wet-down fundraiser, the status of the rescue truck, and status of various fire houses.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Police Department</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Sgt. Constantino was in attendance for the Police Chief. He was available to answer any questions from council. He did respond on how the police would handle the issue of curfew.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Public Works</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The superintendent gave his report which included numbering all the catch basins, the removal of Christmas lighting, and the creation of an online complaint form.</li>
</ul>

<p>Councilman Yakubov asked for the next council meeting to be moved to a different date since a number of councilmembers would not be present due to a Republican fundraiser. After discussion, the meeting date was moved to Wednesday, February 17, 2010.</p>

<p>The meeting went into closed session.</p>
<p>The meeting returned to an open session with no action taken on matters discussed. The meeting was then adjourned.</p>

Dr. Phil Frese, Don Lubin,  Steve Cohen, and John Westervelt gave a presentation from Domus Corporation in connection with Catholic Charities to provide senior housing at the present location of the DPW.
During the presentation there were questions from council regarding the proposition.

The mayor notified council that the Borough received $643,000 to assist with remediation of the closed ball fields. The business of the month was announced as Frenchy’s. March will be Youth Art Month.

Mr. Qersdyn spoke on the charge for notary services and the enforcement of a proposed curfew ordinance.

Borough Attorney 

The Borough Attorney had two (2) matters for closed session.


Borough Clerk

The Borough Clerk spoke on the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day Parade for Union and the “Create-Your-Easter-Egg” contest for the Borough. She had one (1) matter for closed session.


Fire Department

The fire department spoke on the wet-down fundraiser, the status of the rescue truck, and status of various fire houses.


Police Department

Sgt. Constantino was in attendance for the Police Chief. He was available to answer any questions from council. He did respond on how the police would handle the issue of curfew.


Public Works

The superintendent gave his report which included numbering all the catch basins, the removal of Christmas lighting, and the creation of an online complaint form.

<li>Mr. Casais spoke on the upcoming meeting for the Concerned Citizens Of Roselle Park, and private road/sewer work for a homeowner.</li>

<li>Mr. Meola asked regarding the bills &amp; payrolls be not read. He also spoke on issues with sewer lines. He also asked if the DPW would be available to be hired to repair private residents&#8217; problem with sewer lines.</li>

<p>Council discussed issues with broken sewer lines going to the municipality&#8217;s main sewer.</p>

<p>The mayor gave information on a survey done in Union County municipalities regarding the time limit for the public portion.</p>

<p>The meeting went into closed session with four (4) items dealing with negotiations.</p>

Councilman Dinardo wanted to congratulate Patrick White for his years of service. Councilman Yakubov spoke of another resignation from the board and he asked if both could be recognized at the next meeting. The resolution was moved, seconded, voted on, and approved.

There was discussion from council regarding the use of two towing services as opposed to keeping one. The resolution was moved, seconded, voted on, and approved with councilmembers Hokanson and Dinardo voting ‘no’.

Mr. Qersdyn asked questions regarding resolutions 32-10 and 33-10.


Eugene Meola

Mr. Meola asked regarding the bills &amp; payrolls be not read. He also spoke on issues with sewer lines. He also asked if the DPW would be available to be hired to repair private residents’ problem with sewer lines.

Council discussed issues with broken sewer lines going to the municipality’s main sewer.

The mayor gave information on a survey done in Union County municipalities regarding the time limit for the public portion.
